Assadakah News - The Embassy of the Republic of Yemen to Quirinale presents its compliments and has the honour to update on the recent developments regarding the truce. During the past two months, the Government of Yemen GOY has maintained restraint despite the Houthi militia committing daily violations on various fronts, represented by artillery shelling, mobilization, transfer of forces, and flying and bombing of drones which resulted in the martyrdom of 72 individuals and 267 wounded from the national army.
The Presidential Leadership Council PLC agreed to renew the truce for an additional two months although the militias continued to refuse to lift the siege imposed on the city of Taiz seven years ago against 4 million people which is considered a war crime, a crime against humanity and a flagrant violation of international laws and conventions. The GOY calls to put pressure on these militias to completely and unconditionally lift the siege on Taiz in accordance with the terms of the truce, including opening main roads, lifting points and barriers, and allowing the normal movement of citizens and the smooth flow of food and basic commodities. Houthi militia continues as well to obstruct the operation of Sanaa airport flights, the non-disbursement of oil derivatives revenues as salaries to employees, and their daily violations of the truce on various fronts. To this end, the GOY continues to consolidate the truce as a step towards peace and to assume its responsibility towards all Yemeni citizens and towards ending their suffering and addressing all humanitarian issues and their ramifications anywhere in Yemen with a single national standard. Thus the Government calls to join efforts to prevent the collapse of the truce. The Embassy of the Republic of Yemen to Quirinale avails itself of this opportunity to renew the assurances of its highest consideration.
