Hend Soliman - The Tahrir-based Egyptian Museum kicked off today a virtual heritage exhibition in collaboration with Italy. Titled "Virtual Heritage Experience. A Digital Bridge Between Egypt and Italy", The exhibition was the result of a fruitful cooperation between the Egyptian Museum and the Italian embassy in Cairo to boost the world cultural heritage and involve all classes of the society to know about their country’s heritage and culture as well as the civilization of other peoples worldwide and raising the cultural heritage awareness. The kick-off event was attended by the Italian Ambassador to Cairo Michele Quorani, representatives of the Italian embassy, heads and doctors of the Egyptian universities, and Moamen Othman the Head of Museums’ Sectors at the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
“This initiative comes within the framework of a strategy supported by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities together with the Italian embassy in Cairo,” said Ali Abdel-Halim the General Director of the Egyptian Museum, adding that “it aims at raising the touristic, cultural and heritage awareness through using the digital art, 2D digital animation, 3D interactive virtual reality. These techniques are important tool to boost the importance of the cultural heritage and to provide additional opportunities to preserve it as well through a virtual journey that would allow visitors to see the most famous cultural and touristic sites in Cairo and some Italian cities.”
According to Abdel-Halim, the exhibition includes a new interactive application in the 3D virtual reality on the common heritage between both countries. Visitors will be able to enjoy Cairo with its charming touristic sites, Pyramids of Giza and Citadel of Saladdin as well as a virtual tour in some Italian cities including Rome, Benevento, Florence and Venezia. The exhibition will end on March 9.
Il Museo Egizio di Tahrir ha dato il via oggi ad una mostra virtuale del patrimonio in collaborazione con l'Italia. Intitolata "Virtual Heritage Experience.. A Digital Bridge Between Egypt and Italy", la mostra è stata il risultato di una proficua collaborazione tra il Museo Egizio e l'ambasciata italiana al Cairo per valorizzare il patrimonio culturale mondiale e coinvolgere tutte le classi della società a conoscere sul patrimonio e la cultura del proprio paese, nonché sulla civiltà di altri popoli in tutto il mondo e sensibilizzando al patrimonio culturale. All'evento di lancio hanno partecipato l'Ambasciatore d'Italia al Cairo Michele Quorani, rappresentanti dell'Ambasciata d'Italia, rettori e dottori delle università egiziane, e Moamen Othman, Capo Settore Musei presso il Ministero del Turismo e delle Antichità egiziano.
“Questa iniziativa rientra nel quadro di una strategia sostenuta dal Ministero egiziano del Turismo e delle Antichità insieme all'Ambasciata italiana al Cairo”, ha dichiarato Ali Abdel-Halim, Direttore Generale del Museo Egizio, aggiungendo che “ha lo scopo di aumentare la consapevolezza turistica, culturale e del patrimonio attraverso l'uso dell'arte digitale, dell'animazione digitale 2D, della realtà virtuale interattiva 3D.
Queste tecniche sono uno strumento importante per aumentare l'importanza del patrimonio culturale e per fornire ulteriori opportunità per preservarlo anche attraverso un viaggio virtuale che consentirebbe ai visitatori di vedere i siti culturali e turistici più famosi del Cairo e di alcune città italiane.
Secondo Abdel-Halim, la mostra include una nuova applicazione interattiva nella realtà virtuale 3D sul patrimonio comune tra i due paesi. I visitatori potranno godere del Cairo con i suoi affascinanti siti turistici, Piramidi di Giza e Cittadella di Saladino, nonché un tour virtuale in alcune città italiane tra cui Roma, Benevento, Firenze e Venezia. La mostra terminerà il 9 marzo.
